What curriculum and textbooks do you use?
The Canadian Academic Success School wants to ensure that each tutoring
session will complement and reinforce the curriculum taught in the
classroom. The purpose of our tutoring services is to support the
learning objectives of the school system by offering individual tutoring in a
more personal learning environment. With most students we follow the
same curriculum, books and teaching style used in their classrooms, and branch
out from there as students need more reinforcement or other types of
instruction.
Do you give any tests to assess the students?
When registering
for tutoring, a student is given a learning style assessment to determine what
teaching methods the tutor should use to assist the student best. ESL students
are also given an placement to test to determine their level of English
proficiency. Placement tests in math and other subjects can be given if
the student’s level is not known.
During the first tutoring session, tutors will also use a number of testing
methods to determine the areas in which the student needs help.
